Rights & Responsibilities
The following is our Practice Charter:
Your Rights
- You have the right to be treated with courtesy, dignity and respect
- You have the right to confidentiality at all times
- You have the right to be seen urgently if necessary
- You have the right to request a home visit
- You have the right to a high standard of health care
- You have the right to expect your repeat prescription to be ready 24 hours after requesting it
- You have the right to be advised if the surgery is running more than 20 minutes behind schedule
Your Responsibilities
- It is your responsibility to treat the practice team with courtesy and respect
- It is your responsibility not to abuse the appointment system
- It is your responsibility not to request a home visit unless strictly necessary
- It is your responsibility to inform us if you change your address or phone number
- It is your responsibility to ensure that you order your prescriptions in good time
- It is your responsibility to attend in good time for your appointment and to cancel any appointment that you no longer require
In the rare event of a patient being violent or threateningly abusive to staff or other people in the surgery, we may call the police and we may ask the Health Board to remove you from our list. There is a designated GP practice in the city to which violent patients will be referred.
